Sockers Unveil Updated Crest For 2021/22 Season
The San Diego Sockers, proud winners of fifteen professional indoor championships, have redesigned the crest on their uniforms and apparel to reflect the addition of a fifteenth star, reflective of the club’s MASL championship won in 2021. The new crest will immediately replace the “fourteen-star crest” on all Sockers uniforms, merchandise, and official notices.
“Winning a championships means adding a star, and these are good problems to have,” said Sockers general manager Sean Bowers.
Previously, the Sockers crest was filled with thirteen stars on the right side of the emblem (the left side references the city skyline), with a fourteenth above the crest line. The new iteration sees the fourteenth and fifteenth stars both added to the interior of the crest, leaving the space above the crest line empty.
“With a new arena coming in two years, we wanted to avoid a major redesign at this time,” said Bowers of the process, “The new crest is streamlined, reflects our history and tradition, and we will proudly wear it in search of a sixteenth star.”
And if the Sockers do win another championship, where will that star be placed?
“These are the types of problems we’d like to have again next year,” quipped Bowers.
